1920s

Right off the bat student engagement played a large role. In 1924, the St. Louis College Bulletin, became known as the Rattler after a contest to change the name of the newspaper. Welcome trips for freshman were hosted during the 1920s. In the first edition as the Rattler, the freshman class of 1924 took a trip to the Majestic Theatre during their first semester. Events, like dances, entertained the students. In a 1927 newspaper, a senior-sophomore dance was sponsored. Students put on plays and concerts but also focused on athletics. In 1929 a new gym was in the works to be constructed. Event in the 1920s, students had similar interests in health, lifestyle, and entertainment. Students also created clubs, such as the Rattler Club, for students with similar interests.
