I am in receipt of your most courteous invitation to be present at the reception to be given in honor of Mr. ttarral Ayres, and I regret that it will be impossible, due to the rush of business at this season of the year in San Diego, for us to attend the reception.
I have written to Mr. Ayres and expressed our regrets and wish that you would do likewise for us.
I also wish to express our appreciation and thanks for the liberal mention that is given to San Diego in the invitational announcement of the reception, and promise you that San Diego will do everything within its power to further the work of directing tourist and highway travel over this southwest all year highway, the Old Spanish Trail.
