The Old Spanish Trail Association is an incorporated body. All field men are bonded by a national surety company. The work is conducted as a business organization of which every member is a part, and our general co-operation can bring big results. The Highway belongs to each interested community. The Field Secretaries are secretaries also for all local communities. Together it is our work to build up the Highway and its territory and make it nationally popular, and also to help everyone locally to get the best advantage out of it. All memberships include subscription to the Old Spanish Trail Magazine. Memberships run for three years, unless otherwise stated. This work is being built for permanence. Memberships are according to interest in the work and ability to help. Life Memberships are $1,000; Founder, $100; Sustaining. $25; General, $10. Business institutions, banks, garages, hotels and citizens who are able and interested, carry Founder's Memberships; many of these have been paid in. Others scale down according to ability. Chambers of Commerce, in recognition of community interest, are carrying one or more Founder’s or Sustaining Memberships. The Old Spanish Trail is being developed into a big, national enterprise. Extensive organization is needed to press forward road-building, bridge-building and other construction, and continual work and publicity are essential to make the history and attractions of the Trail nationally known, preserve the old landmarks and develop the history of those ancient and romantic days. It is the Highway of the South, fostered by the people of the South, that all may enjoy the hospitalities and pleasures of the Southern Borderlands. Additionally, a system of national military highways, maintained by the Federal government, is coming. Our work is to make the Old Spanish Trail one of the these national highways.
