BEAUMONT ENTERPRISE BEAUMONT JOURNAL EVERY MORNING EVENING EXCEPT SUNDAY THE SUNDAY" ENTERPRISE W. P. HOBBY; Publisher J. L.MAPES, Associate Publisher and General Manager BEAUMONT, TEXAS May 17, 1929. Mr.Harold Ayers, Old Spanish Trail Association, San Antonio, Texas. Dear Mr.Ayers: I was glad to get your letter of May 11th, together with copy of the letter you had written to Mr, Mournet, at Lafayette. From reading your letter to Mr.Mournet, I believe I can well understand something of the complaints that have been made, however, up to the time your letter was received, I was not familiar with any of the complaints. Of course you know that I am unable to see any cause for complaint at this time. Maybe some mistakes have been made but without mistakes nothing would have been accomplished. I am certainly sorry to see you retire as managing director of the Old Spanish Thail Association. Good work indeed, has been done but there is as much, if not more, work to he done from now on as in,the past but it is hard to sell people on the idea. I, for one, do not sec how you have put up with it as long as you have and I sincerely trust that whatever business you go into that you will be well repaid for your efforts as certainly the remuneration for your services as managing director of the Old Spanish Trail has not been very lucrative. MD Very truly^jodurs^
