March 89, 1928o Mr. I5. W. Marsh, Pensacola, Florida. Pear Mr. Marsh:- Vie have had considerable correspondence both by letter and wire with Mr. H. 13. Ayres, managing director of the Old Spanish Trail Association to be held here in Jacksonville this summer. Mr. Ayres got as far as Tallahassee at one time, but did not get to Jacksonville and our correspondence is becoming more j and more unsatisfactory each time until now we are about of the opin-xon ag there xs a *'xly xn ohe oincmenc*^ somewnere. Can you e nligh-ten us as to what is sticking in Ayres" craw? Has Jacksonville failed to live up to the tenants of the association? Has Jacksonville failed to provide any funds that she was supposed to provide? Has Jacksonville because she is the centering place for a number of highways shown by her attitude that she is not interested in the success of the Old Spanish Trail? Has not Jack onville by her activities in securing a permanently improved roadway from Lake City to Jacksonville demonstrated her interest in the Old Spanish Trail? Has not Jacksonville by the inters, t she has Si.ovm in State Hoad #1 from Pensacola to J-.oksonville displayed the proper spirit in getting the Old Spanish Trail improved across Florida? I ask these questions, Mr. Marsh, not in a spirit of fault finding, but because I personally desire the information and because I have not been able to secure any definite data on Jacksonville's obligations to the Old Spanish Trail Association. Trusting to have the pleasure of a long, personal, friendly letter from you and with kind personal regards, we are. Yours very truly, Jacksonville automobile c..ub E-V7 Managing Director
