San Antonio, Texas March 20th, 1922 Mr.. H. B. Ayres, Battle House, Mobile, Alabama. Dear Harral:- I am sending you quite a bunch of newspaper clippings that I accumulated while I was homesick last week. This will show you that we haven't been asleep on the .job altogether. If we haven't been getting any money we are getting some publicity, and as usual, hoping to get some money some day. \\ W I wrote you a blue letter Saturday but I simply stated facts as they exist. I know that is what you want. Personally I am feeling-better today, but the financial side is no brighter. If you think the organization can live thru the summer I believe I will put on a big touring party to the Davis Mountains about June. Get the people at El Paso to make up a party to meet the Houston and San Antonio crowd and have the Texas convention in camp. I think the peoole in the Ft. Davis section would go to quite a lot of trouble to make it a big success, and I believe we can collect enough memberships along the route to pay all expenses of handling, and probably give us a little additional funds for other things. In addition to all this we get a lot of publicity on the Davis Mountains for state park purposes, and I think i can arrange for a party from Ft. '"orth to join us at Ft. Davis, and arrange with Governor Neff and family to join our touring party from Gan Antonio. Of course it means quite a lot of work to put this over but the work can be handled in conjunction with membership collections, campsites and various ether things in the interest of the Trail at the same time. Just had a report from Shreve. He secured $50 worth of business at Y/aelder. I am beginning to feel very proud of him and his work. He may be just the man e have been needing for quite a while, Tell, this is Monday the 30th, and I am guessing that you are jumping around and so busy you don't know where you are going half the time, at that big convention. But I air. not afraid of your losing your head because you never get excited, but I imagine you have about enough for four men to do unless you are getting unusually good co-operation from local people. I am very anxious for your report on this meeting. I think it is going to be the biggest thing you ever put over. How are you getting along with year marking crew East? DEC:AH Very truly yours
