Mr. H.B.Ayres,Managing Director, Old Spanish Trail Association, Mobile, Ala. My dear Mr.Ayres: I find it is not possible to attend the conference at Mobile, and very muoh regret not being able to oome. I have but just taken up the work here, after an absenoe of two years, and with several very important committees to meet on Monday and Tuesday,it is simply out of the question for me to be away. Gol. T.J.Appleyard will try to attend;and it is possible that Oapt. J.Stuart Lewis,a member of the City Commission of ^allahassee, will go if he is well enough to stand the trip; he has been ill for the past week. I want you to consider giving the OST convention to Tallahassee, and will be glad if you will wtite me further about it. The Dixie Highway Association convention will be held in Jacksonville, about the first week in May, and I think it would be well to either preoed those dates or follow them with the OST division convention? On some aooounts, it would be better to follow, as the Florida Historical Pageant is to be given at Jacksonville April 20-21-22, and this will out into the time so that people will not be able to attend anything the following week, and then again the first week in May:it would be better,I think ,to have the OST convention about the middle of Llay,or in early June? Think it over and write me,soon. Best wishes for success at Mobile, and always. Very truly If Col.Appleyard goes,I have asked him to make the battle House his headquarters.
