Whereas it has been conclusively demonstrated by the great war now being waged in Europe that a National syste^m of good roads is essential to the successful protection of a country In the event of war, and, Whereas, the welfare, happiness and prosperity of the people of the United States is to a very great extent dependent upon quick transportation, it Therefore,be/resolved by the Senate of Alabama, the House oonourring, that the President and Congress of the United States be and are hereby memorialized to take suoh steps as in their wisdoip appeess to be most expedient, to bring about at the earliest possible moment the contraction of a National System of good roads. Be it further resolved that the Governor is respectfully requested to transmit a oopy of these resolutions to the President and Congress of the United States.
