JOHN H. DUNBAR ATTORNEY GENERAL STATE OF WASHINGTON RAYMOND W. CLIFFORD M. H.WIGHT TOM W. HOLMAN C. .W ANOEPSON R. G. SHARPE D. D. ADAMS A3V3TANT3 OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL OLYMPI A April 7, 1924. Mrs. J# T. Smith, Chairman, Committee on Advertising, Department of Beautification, Old Spanish Trail, 114 Gunter Hotel, San Antonio, Texas. Dear Madam: Your letter of March 25, 1924, is hereby acknowledged. This is to advise you that there are no laws in the state of Washington prohibiting sign board advertising along the highways, and we do not know of any movement among organizations or citizens to abolish or curtail such advertising. However, the Standard Oil Como any has on its own motion decided to abolish all their advertising signs along the highways except such signs as appear immediately before entering a town or city. It is to be nresumed that other large business interests will follow this excellent lead, but we have no definite information on this subject. Hoping that this information will be of some value to you.
