ROAD CONDITION MAPS Distribution rule the same as travelogs. These were made rather crudely at first so that northern routing offices could show inquirers how extensively the OS? is now improved. Officer started framing them. Requests for them came from many directions. We then made them more carefully and standardized the size for framing. Cur costs to date are about $250. We believe 500 more should be distributed and that next year a new map should be prepared showing the main traveled routes leading to the Old Spanish Trail. The total cost 7/ould be $1000. Road condition maps are free to members for display, and are titled MEMBER. Road condition maps to service members are titled SERVICE MEMBER. Road condition maps with no title are $2.00 each to non-members. POCKET AND WALL MAPS These must be prepared if the Old Spanish Trail is to take its place in the national mind as a distinctive and notable highway. The first cost will be the only cost for the wall maps. The pccket maps will carry themselves after the first cost. (Prepared copiss for exhibit) HISTORICAL SIGNING It is planned to now develop interest in the historical background of the highway. People V7ill always travel to sections where the historic scenes are marked and told about. People are thoroly interested in the old history in the travelog and our other publications. Our membership plaque is intended as a symbol of the historical and romantic period of the past. In its entirety it is intended for life members and special purposes. (Exhibit) The shield part can be used by general members for window and windshield display. In a plainer form the shield (see blue print) can be used for outdoor sign emblems, for naming rivers and scenic spots, for signing historical pl®£®pj signing county names, awards of merit signs, etc. The marking in vur Spanish colors will also emphasize the historical background that strangers enjoy so much. And it will also help keep alive the pride of our own people in their great work. -5-
