OFFICIALLY JULY NINETEENTH There being so much contusion regarding the proposed picnic and celebration oC the opening of victory bridge at Chattahoochee July 4th, ■0. B. Philips, chairman of the state road department makes the following statement: “The work being done by Gadsden county on the eastern approach to the bridge is in such con-dition that it will he impossible to atempt to open same on July 4th. Also the work on the floor of the j bridge is not complete and no doubt will be in process of construction on July fourth. “We have made a very careful investigation and calculation as to the time necessary to complete this work, and find that the earliest date we can hope to have it completed will be July 19. It is wholly inadvisable to think of allowing the public in any large numbers to go on the bridge prior to that date, as the work is in such shape it will be dangerous to allow such crowds to go over the bridge, particularly in view of the condition of the work on the road leading to the eastern approach. “We have invited the two counties, Gadsden and Jackson to arrange a program for the opening celebration on or about the 19th of July. It will be desirable to have these ceremonies on the 19th as we wish to open the bridge for public travel at the earliest possible date." VICTORY BRIDGE TO BE OPENED
