Lea: I am very rial indeed to be in recoi l of your letter of December 1st expressing your hearty cooperation, m) wish to say than the committee, of which I am Chairman, with Dr. .Tohnston, the '‘resile at, and the managing iirector are trying theiV very best to ret a foot-holding to the management of the association, which has proven very difficult. Vs have had considerable troubles locally, which we hope will disappear under what we ex; oct to give in the way of efficient manage men t and control of the Association. • The Committee Joes not believe it advisable to call a convention at this time, is the Association as a whole is not in position to go before a convention with credit, but we hope to have it in ’oo3 working order within the next sixty to ninety da^s. The Committee was not advised by the President, or anyone else, of the calling of a convention. We assure you the Committee is going to do its level best to make the Old Sranish Trail Association a creditable or sanitation, and no member of this Committee desires any honor, money, or any other compensation out o’ the Association, but is trving to put it on its feet for the -oo i of the entires territory from the Atlantic to the Pacific. '"e have not yet been able to put the local office ;n good working order, having .just discharged ill employees of the Asspcistion, with the exception of !'r.
