W.E.LEA, MAYOR (£xb& Xc£ ($XttXTXf& ^stb»r ^-Txrrifc Orange,Texas December 1, 1922. The Honorable Kenneth Weimar, Chairman, Executive Committee, Old Spanish Trail Association, c/o City National Bank Bldg. , San Antonio, Texas. Dear Mr. Weimar: Mr. R.B. Thompson, field manager, of the Old Spanish Trail, called on me last week and, today, appeared before the executive committee of the Chamber of Commerce, explaining that there is to be a convention hold in Beaumont sometime this month for the purpose of electing officers and directors and starting the O.S.T., on a new basis. As Vice-President of the Association, 1 feel that this is very necessary, and you candepend upon it that Orange will aid in every way in putting over the right kind of convention in Beaumont; and will, on the re-organization, support the Association as it has done in the past. Orange County lias done a great deal toward the upbuilding of the trail. We have some seventeen miles of the finest concrete road in the State, and expect to complete this to Beaumont, a distance of seven miles, before the end of 1923- V/e have voted bonds to do this as well as build a bridge over the Sabine River to Louisiana, thus completing Orange County's part of the great wo rk. I feel expecially proud of my division as there are funds enough in the various county bond issues already voted to complete a concrete highway from the Sabine River to the western end of Harris County, and this will also be completed before the end of 1923- Again assuring you of our heartjfi co-operation and desire to make the O.S.T., to be what it should be, I beg to remain Yo.urs very truly, Received WEL-eg.
