within a reasonable length of time this will be highly improved. Out of Dallas,we are ashamed to say that our part of the road to Fort Worth is in bad need of repairs at the present time. We are glad to say,however,that we have $500,000 cash on hand to spend on oiir roads and this stretch will soon be solid concrete. The road across Tarrant Coirnty is one of the best on this entire trail. It is hard surfaced all across the County and presents a beautiful drive.
Parker County,just beyond,is working on its road but not paving them. They v/ere recently in fierce shape from pulvarized dirt which has been thrown lip on the top of the road. The recent rains should have made this road pretty good.
Fro& Mineral Wells on the roads are in fair condition to Sweetwater but suffering from rain to settle the dust. This road can x always be traveled and there is no great amount of sand to pull through. The rest of the road is as I explained in the beginning.
T/e are in high hopes that v/e will be able to present to the Association a through paved road within a short time. When the Fort Worth-El Paso road is completed ±s it will be a wonderful drive and one which will be worth many miles of travel to go over. That end of the road has one of the livest,most optomistic road associations I have ex ever heard of.
From Shreveport into Dallas,the tourist has a beautiful road. All of the sand has been done away with and the drive can be made in a short time. This is one of the prettiest drives in Texas.
When I spoke disparagingly of the road between Fort Worth and Mineral Wells,I had forgotten that recently we came from Mineral Wells to Dallas in a Cadillac Eight in two hours and forty minutes -xa distance of 87 miles. Pretty good for a bad road,Eh. I thinks this speaks pretty haft good of the "bad spots" on the trail in Texas.
