Walthall, Percy Tyrrell and Harrel B. Ayres, 5» The various civic clubs had been asked to send delegates and they were represented as follows; Rotary, R. C. Jones, Prank M. Lewis, Herbert J, Hayes, and Porter Loring; Auto Trades, Prank Orr; Kivvsnis, H, A. Hirshberg and W. II. Henrne; Conopus, G, P, V/roten and Philip Coldweli; Lions Club, Dr, J. H. Reagan, Carl Wright Johnson, E. D. Henry and Prank Z. Beatty; Chamber of Commerce, W. H. Purlong and Tom Etheridge, Jr,; Real Estate Board, IT. S. Dickinson, R. W, Patter; and P. E. Gragg; IT. Beck ran*, OST members, 4, During the luncheon, Hr, Wimer explained why the leaders of the various organizations had been asked to cone with their delegates. He explained how this organisation had been existing the past four years, and told of the real efforts which had been made, and of the unselfish interest the Managing Director had shown, and called attention to the fact that the organization was not financially able to carry on this work without the proper support of the cities along the Trail, Mr, V/i ler told of tl e efforts made by the civic organisations in other sections, and how they had done their part, and asked that the civic clubs of San Antonio got behind this work and do their p art, 5, Mr, Ayres explained that this work was a civic and not a personal organization. He took up where Mr. Winer left off in telling how the country towns had come across, where the cities had dropped behind, Mr. Ayres explained that if Headquarters city did not support the organization we could not expect support from other cities. He spoke of the letters and inquiries received daily from all parts of the United States, to show what the Old Spanish Trail really meant to the people, Mr, Ayres called attention to the recognition on the war map, and that San Antonio had not done its part. He urged each of them to inquire into the business management, and after inquiring if they thought they should support it, then to go back and put San Antonio back of it, <3, Mr, Dickinson was asked to talk on what he had heard on the rord. He mentioned the roads in Colorado and TTyosning and said the people were behind them. He said the roads through ’.Vest Texas were so poor that he would never encourage anyone to travel them, even though he would like to boost Texas and Ban Antonio, Said tourists were dropping down from the North and if San Antonio had bid for tourist travel, she would not have gotten as much as could be gotten if the road question was solved.
