NEWS SERVICE March 21st, 1922 San Antonio-Brownsville Division of the Old Spanish Trail has been the most active section in Texas this winter. HIDALGO COUNTY - $1,250,000 bond issue was approved last week by the Attorney General's Department. Now we will look for some big road work in the Valley just as quick as Judge Brown and liis Commissioners Court can get the plans ready. State Highway Department has granted Hidalgo Federal aid and there's nothing to delay the work. CAMERON COUNTY - has been under construction for more than a year. They have used up the first bond issue and voted a second one which is available, and work will start on the second lap in a few weeks. BROOKS COUNTY - with the largest Dairy in the world - at least the largest we ever saw - was the first county on the line to vote bonds and start her work. JIM WELLS COUNTY - put up a nice majority of better than 3 to 1 for her bond issue. And we hope the Commissioners Court won t lose any time in getting the work started. BEXAR COUNTY - nearly all completed. Topping will be put on as soon as. gravel is settled. EL PASO COUNTY - We have received word from this county that they have completed a distance of 65 miles paved with Bithulithic and concrete at a cost of about $31,000 i->er mile.
