An all-weather, all-year road now exists across the continent except one county m Alabama east of Mobile Bav, and that will be standard built summer of 1028 All the old distressing sections are now replaced witli modern construction. One-half the mileage is paved witli additional paving being continually laid. The Old Spanish Trail is a United States Highway for its whole mileage. State maintenance forces are in service on all sections. The mileage is logged by specially equipped cars of the Automobile Club of Southern California working in cooperation with the Old Spanish Trail to correctly fix and standardize the mileage records.
