San Antonio, Texas, Huy 7th, 1925. Hr. W. 0. Jones, Motor League of So. Texas, Bender Hotel, Houston, Texas. Dear Walter; Thu enclosed is self explanatory. I spent two days in Austin without results. •The Executive Board hare lias ruled that if this changing of names or attempt to out various names on the Old Spanish Trail prevails this work will undoubtedly have to he disbanded, for v/e cannot finance work that is free for others to steal the fruits of it. Wo are serious in this attitude. How that the Old Spanish '.’rail construction work is moving so successfully we here do not intend to ho involved iny longer making up deficiencies for expenses. The Old Spanish Trail is just coming into value for all of South Texas. If it is destroyed I sincerely believe up-state interests will always bs able to keep travel and other conditions better on the Bankhead Highway than across the OSS. I saw several things at Austin that I would rather tell you about in person when I see you. It is significant that no attempt has been made to change the name of the Bankhead Highway or to lessen any of the state appropriations in that district. Hath kindest regards, I am Sincerely, HB/i/b eno. 15d. It. II. 3. Ayres, OS'j? Managing Director
