HIGHWAY MARKERS ROAD MARKERS:- Design No. 3. Sign to be 30" wide, height to suit lettering. Made of Cast Iron, painted Black back ground with Fnite fettering and border. To have holes for bolts with counter-sunk heads for attaching to posts, bridges, walls, etc. If erected on standards furnished by us, said standards to be of re-inforced concrete, 6" 'A 6” square from: bottom to grade level, then to taper to 4" at top. These standards to be Eight Feet Long and be planted two feet in the ground, set in concrete in a round bored hole net less than 8" in diameter. O.S T Colors to be painted on the Standard, beginning 6” below the Cast Iron. The Marker to read as follows: OLD SPANISH TRAIL Old Spanish Trail Association Location of these signs to be determined by the needs of the road. At all intersecting roads if there appears to be any doubt whatsoever as to which might be the Old Spanish Trail, one of these markers should be located on the driver's right at a point within easy eight just beyond the intersecting road. If it is plainly evident which is the Old Spanish Trail then the color markers only may be used. In Cities and Towns color markers will be mostly used. At least two color markers to the block on each side of the street. Approaching a corner where turn is to be made, a road marker should be placed at the Driver's right with a standard ”R" or nL" just beneath and color markers beneath the two markers. This, however, will depend largely on available light or telephone poles and permission to use them, or, if we have to erect our own posts upon obtaining permission from the local authorities who will also likely designate where we may erect our markers, "R" (RIGHT) &f(LEFT) MARKERS:- These to be in accordance (Same desing and size) with similar markers to be used by the Highway Departments, as prescribed by the Committee on Signs, Joint Board cf Interstate Highways, The State Highway Departments are supposed to furnish and erect these signs where necessary in the country and in towns of less than 3500 population, but towns and cities of more than 3500 population will have to be marked by us, (Note: This is the lav: governing the Texas Highway Department, It may not be the same in other States.) Unless we are supplied with these signs by the Highway Departments, we are to Oast our own, conforming to the size and design of the markers as above described, colors Black and White, made of cast iron. Size of these shields to be 7" high and 7" wide with the letters "R» and "L" 4g" in height with trade mark ("Old Spanish Trail") in £" high lettering. See Designs Nos. 3-A and 3-B.
