Road aud bridge construction totaling $70,000,000 now completed. An all-weather, all-year road now exists across the continent except one county in Alabama east o£ Mobile Bay, and that will be standard built summer o£ 102S. All the old distressing sections are now replaced with modern construction. One-half the mileage.is paved with additional paving being continually laid. The Old Spanish Trail is a United States Highway for its whole mileage. State maintenance forces are in service on all sections.
The mileage is logged by specially equipped cars o£ the Automobile Club of Southern California working in cooperation with the Old Spanish Trail to correctly fix and standardize the mileage records.
Elevations shown are at railroad stations; where no railroads, then at the city center.
