Hiss Margie Neale of Texas stated that although she was a great admirer of federated women that this v/euld not be confined to federated clubs. Mrs. Banning of Alabama moved the adoption of resolutions by fa eliminating the word "federated" seconded by Mrs. Thomas of Gulfport and carried. Mrs. Fred Burton of Galveaton, Chairman of planting, gave a splendid address on how palms were planted in that city. Of how 5000 palms were sold at .50 cents ouch by canvassing the city streets abd of beautifying four miles of highway by planting these and oleanders. Mrs. A. A. Anding of Opelousas, La. spoke of the work of organising the Pershing Highway community Assn, from the Jefferson Highway at Bunkie through Opelousas to the Old Spanish Trail at Lafayette. The women along this route have been asked to pledge themselves to plant trees, flowers and shrubbery, to beautify their yards and the road in. front of their farms. To see that all trash and glass is picked up and to keep people from putting up bill boards and signs on ? trees and fences, and to try to get a camp site about every fifteen miles. The women will use this as a community center, have a storm shed, house near that will serve as a rest room and slop with ’phone, the name of nearest doctor, «. well of water and mail box. The shop to % sell things needed by the tourists and in payment of the privilege and must keep the site clean of all trash etc. Twenty families, have signed up for this plan.
