San Xavie/beginnings. Inds and padres (Mariano) had been back and forth btw SA and this place (Rancherla Grande) for years apparently.
(Apr 13?) A ms founded and padres there - hut not yet authorized. Crops planted etc.
(Dec 23) Three ms authorized etc.
(By Aug 23) Had retired to San Marcos for safety.
(July) Still at San Marcos
Jan 25) Ms.est'd at present Hew Braunfels...River still known as Guadalupe, now Comal. Suggested "good thing to occupy a post ±hxrEx hetw SA and San Saha." Apparently the Hew Braunfels ms. was abandoned 1758, after San Saha ms. was destroyed hy the Apaches "since with insufficient garrison it could not exist because of the multitude of enemies."
San Saha ms and presidio established.
