Member Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America Member Mississippi Valley Association WHERE FAMOUS HIGHWAYS MEET Dixie Highway—Old Spanish Trail Callafjassee Chamber of Commerce TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA September 21,1922. Mr. H.B.Ayres,Managing director, Old Spanish Trail Association, San Antonio, Texas. My dear Mr. Ayres2 Thank you for your splendid work for the Trail. I have received your several letters, and will try to get the matter you mentioned into the papers in this locality. I have been overwhelmed with work: many are coming to Florida from the northwestern states, and want to come in over Victory Bridge via Tallahassee to South Florida, and want maps and information. As I have no office help, have been very busy . A company wants to put in a power plant on the ^cklooknee river, above here, and to make a basin in Sadsfen and Leon counties, where the bridge now is on the OBT,this side of Havana. Mr. Haviland of uavana, >;s here this week, and asked me to keep him posted,as he will oppose the rel cation of the OST,or any interference at this point. If the road is relocated, it wi 11 practj cal 1 y d ■ tour Havana, and cut out several farmers who live along the present road. How do you manage to block the e Lind of things in the western section of the x'rail? or are there any such, movements? As the plans of the company appear to be detrimental to our City plants, our Committee and some members of the City Commission are investigating very carefully,al1 points of the proposition. It may not go through; but if you have had like oases will you please let me know whether there was a way to compel the company to build causeways,fi11s,eto., so as not to initer fere with the highway? The Havana route is more attractive in scenery than the Midway, and the country inhabited I There is not much difference in distance, between here and Quinay in favor of the Midway route, t/e want to keep the Trail via Havana. Let me hear from you at your convenience. Best wishes. Very truly yours, . y" ^ / ■ * 'Q- C ' L. 42- ;//' <1C cc/j- u NO TOUR OF FLORIDA IS COMPLETE UNLESS YOU SEE THE CAPITAL CITY TALLAHASSEE Capital of Florida.
