3 The Women's Federated Clubs of the Valley thru their Good Roads Committee - Mrs. J. C. Myrick of Harlingen, Chairman, Mrs. J. Y» Harvey of San Benito, and Miss Florence Bell of Brownsville - have inaugurated a palm planting scheme which has been given wide publicity over the OST from Florida to California. Hon. Ray Lambert, Park Commissioner of San Antonio, will visit the Valley March 38th, 39th and 30th and advise with the Women's Clubs about palip planting and other modes of beautification as well as give us some suggestions on Tourist Camp Parks. The personnel o.-the party will be: Dr. Fred 3. Johnston, President OST; Hon. Ray Lambert, Park Commissioner of San Antonio; S. M. Williams, represent ing San Antonio Express; and D. E. Colp, Manager of the Bond Department, OST, Our plan to complete the Old Spanish Trail organization from Houston to the San Antonio-Brownsville junction at Mathis has been postponed on two different Occasions, First, account rain, second time of account of sickness. We are now waiting on Judge W. W. Mc-Crory, State Highway Commissioner, to advise us when he can be with us. Plans will soon be worked out for an inspection trip along the border from Brownsville to Del Rio. This is one of the most important projects in Texas today. The building of this highway would save thousands of dollars to our State and Federal Government. That isn't all it will do for us. It will give San Antonio and Houston a big tourist loop that can be used the entire winter by out tourists and the entire summer by our own people. And since J. M. McLeese has become secretary of the Chamber of Corrmerce at fagle Pass we predict that he will be on the job every day until Eagle Pass can boast of a road on both sides of the Rio (grande, especially between Eagle.Pass and Del Rio. There is a fair road now on the other side and it goes by* some of the best fishing places to be found in the Republic. We expect Mr. McLeese will have it marked before vacation time starts with the San Antonio people, but he can expect that live-wire secretary, Fred W. Mally, of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, to bd on the job marking a loop road on the Mexican side from Laredo to Brownsville.
