My dear Mr. Ayres: I regret not seeing you, when you attended the Victory Bridge dedication. That was some good publicity you gave the bridge and the ^-’rail. I have been intending to write to you, but have been feeling ill for several ireeks, culminating last week in a feven that kept me indoors for several days. I hope you will keep well and be successful in your work. We have received the enolosed letter from a Mr. Shaw ,and since you are the one to give out data, I am referring him to you. We,of course, have no book about the Trail, other than your folders. I hope this is someone who is working in harmony with you,and not trying to start something else? The country is full of men who are seeking to get in on various propositions,or to interfere with them. Ken Goodson, who is the engineer of the AAA, working out from Montgomery headquarters for the Southeast, was through here recently, and is making strip-maps, of the Bee-Line Highway, Trail, and other highways. I told him that other highway markings would have to stay off of the Trail, but he only smiled, and intimated that if Tallahassee did not come across with some funds he would route tourists through an upper route to Jacksonville. These make me very tiredl There will be an end to this kind of "hold-up" game, someday, when communities treat them as we do here, ignore them. There are only two highways in which we are interested, the Trail and the Dixie Highway . Not knowing whether you are in Mobile,I am also sending a oopy of Mr.Shaw's letter to Mr.Colp, who oan see him personally. With best wishes,! am. Very truly yours, NO TOUR OF FLORIDA IS COMPLETE UNLESS YOU SEE THE CAPITAL CITY
