W.E.LEA, MAYOR (&thx xrf (§xztx%x$v il-Pl?p Etor 5Jnll' M.3.DAVIES, SECRETARY Orange,Tex as August 25, 1922. H.B. Ayres, Managing Director, Old Spanish Trail Association, c/o Gunter Hotel, San Antonio, Tex. My Dear Ayres: I have your letter with reference to Francis, supposed to be a traveling representative authorized to make contracts and collect money in behalf of the Old Spanish Trail. I was skeptical of his authority in this matter, and while the Chamber of Commerce willingly acceded to the payment of $250.00 for a page in twelve issues of the Old Spanish Trail magazine, together with various other advertising features, we held up payment on this contract until he could show the proper authority. We are waiting your Board of Directors action in this matter. Have you noticed the map proposed by the Yellow Stone Trail Association for adoption by the Associated Highways Convention, in session tomorrow and the next day? I am enclosing a copy of ray telegram to them protesting against the adoption of this map eliminating the Old Spanish Trail. It appears to me that it will be a wise thing to get the governing body of the Old Spanish Trail functioning in a proper manner again, as big things will be doing on this section of the trail during the next twelve months. 7/e are just now about to locate a twenty acre park and camp site, with all the necessary camp site equipment, just at the edge of the City. When it is finished, it will be the best camp site east of San Antonio. WEL-eg. Yours Mery truly, V/.E./tEA\ l.&YOR.
