My Dear Mrs. Drought:
I wish to acknowledge receipt of your invitation to the Reception given hy you for Mr. Harral Ayres at your home eight o'clock Tuesday evening, April twenty-ninth, nineteen-hundred and thirty and to state my regret that I will be unable to attend this Reception.
May I express my appreciation to you both for your kindness in sending me this invitation and also for your celebrating the occasion of the Decoration conferred so deservedly upon Mr, Ayres. Mr. Ayres could never be repaid for the wonderful work and lifetime of thought given to the interest of the Old Spanish Trail.
