The chairman submitted suggestions for the Chamber of Commerce to assume responsibility for financing the Old Spanish Trail work in conjunction with the other chambers of commerce along the highway, provided some such plans could be worked out. It was generally agreed that inasmuch as construction was proceeding so well, and that travel would soon be able to follow the route, that the day was close at hand when the most important work would be to gather, print and distribute travel information. The question of promoting necessary construction or road improvement could, if neeessary, hereafter be left to local organizations along the highway. 4. The Managing Director was authorized to proceed eastward as soon as practicable for attentions in that section. The allowance usually to field men of 86.50 a day for automobile and hotel expenses were agreed upon for the Managing Director. 5. It was resolved that eastern monies should bo deposited in the eastern banks and reserved for the work to be done in the East, except that the salary of the office assistant should be cared for from such funds until further action. 6. It was resolved the funds collectable from San Antonio and Texas should be used for current accounts. Mr. V/althall agreeing to assist in these collections and to attend the office sufficiently to assist in every way he can. Letters inquiring for travel information which the office assistant cannot handle will be referred by her to Mr. Furlong of the Chamber of Commerce. ?. The Managing Director reported the bills for the 1924 memberships of the eastern states had not been raa.iled, and the office was now sending them out. It was also reported that a service map for Louisiana and one for West Texas had been partly paid for by the people of those sections, and every possible effort should bo made to issue these maps. The Managing Director clearly stated that no further effort should be undertaken to issue service maps, or print, or provide any other travel information unless first the full financing of the work was provided for. 8. It was ordered to give the Gunter Hotel a bill of sale for the furniture in the office in payment of the account due the Gunter Hotel for rent and hotel service. LIr. Tyrrell stated if this were done, as a matter of further assistance to the work, the rent of the office would be contributed. Mr. Beckmann was directed to prepare and have executed the said bill of sale.
