San Antonio, Texas May 5th, 1925. Mr. W. J3« Lea, Orange, Texas. Dear Mr. Lea: Enclosed Is copy of telegram just filed to you. Also copy of letter for your confidential information that is being sent to Texas editors. It seems absolutely certain the Old Spanish Trail organization cannot be held together if this re-naming is persisted in. Already the financing of important work is held up. At the gulfport convention yon spoke of the lure and attraction of the Old Spanish Trail name. Through all my years of connection with this project the lure of this name has been emphasized constantly by people all over the United States. We have made that name nationally known. It will be a fearful blunder now to destroy all that has been done in behalf of the Old Spanish Trail as a national highway. Wish you could help advise me in this situation. Sincerely yours. E» B. Ayres, OST Managing Director. H3A/b ene. ^elog. ed. It.
