January 9th, 1931 Dear Hr. Ayres:- Have your letter this morning of January 5th from Daphne. No doubt you have seen Dr. Van Ideratine by this time. Your letter to him came back this morning •- the one advising him of your time of arrival in Mobile, you know - it was addressed to MOBILE, can't imagine how we both overlooked this. Trust there has been no serious damage as the result. Terribly sorry. That doesn't help matters tho does it? Received the $40 you sent, also a check for $10 in the same mail from Wra. Hajsk at Schulenburg. That was all the money that had come in up to this morning -when I received $100 from Joske Bros.; an unexpected source, as you had said they refused to continue their membership. Was very glad indeed to get that 0100 as I gave Mr. Colp $50 on his expense account Saturday which left the bank acct. in a DEPLORABLE condition. Have a letter from Mr. Tomkins caf the San Diego Chamber of Commerce saying they would be delighted to present a picture of the San Diego Mission, and thanking you for your manifest goodwill toward San Diego, etc., etc. Do you have an electro of the cartoon "Ain't It a C-rand and Glorious Feeling" and has it been published in some magazine? The Universal Portland Cement Co. of Chicago request a copy of the magazine if it has been printed. Can't remember ever having known. anything about it. If it isn't too much trouble will you advise me oh it. Now don't worry about conditions here. Everything has been perfectly calm, and if the sea does get rough I believe we can ride the waves without any serious mishaps. Just go ahead with the situation there with your mind at ease id regard to this end of the line. I suppose I shouldn't have worried you with these petty details-("Yorrv" is not exactly the word I meant, "annoy" would possibles bettor) I started to tear the letter up but might as well send it now I have 'written it. Sorry you have had a cold- Hope it will be all right "immediately at once". I can appreciate how you feel as have had tonsilitis for several days-rbouldn't speak above a whisper. Just about all right now tho. Wishing you all kinds of success, I am. Sincerely, ^ PRES'D^j^^ MANA^°
