San Antonio, Texas, April 20th, 1933 Ur. H. B. Ayres, Battle House, Mobile, Alabama Dear Harral:- Replying to your four last letters. Regarding the history booklets, the hotels have all paid except the Gunter, Manger and Prudential« My understanding is that the Gunter is to credit our account with their part of it. The Menger and Prudential have just been standing us off, or rather standing Miss Huey off. I will go and see them today myself. I am sure I will get the Menger's. I don't know about the Prudential. All tha,t has been collected has been turned over to the printer. If you could spare as much as $25 to M. C.Hill I believe that would hold him up for 30 or 50 days longer. As to Clegg, I don't know what you will have to do for him. You had better take it up with him by correspondence direct. The prospects look good enough for us to get in some money next month, and I believe we will. But for the past 30 or 40- days the weather has been so rainy that it was simply out of the question. With reference to the Magazine. I had a proposition on with a party here that I thought would take the magazine o ver on a satisfactory arrangement and I took the matter up with Dr. Johnston and he told me he would write you about it. Later on he advised me that you were claiming the magazine as your personal property, and it seemed as tho there was going to be some delay in getting the matter straightened out and I just told the party we wouldhave to postpone any further negotiations until you returned. But a few days ago he informed me that he wouldn't be interested in it now as he had made other arrangements, but from your letter it seems as if the magazine belongs to the association. I don't think that it makes any particular difference at present. In the event an opportunity presents itself to get somebody on to this magazine and release the association of all expense and get out a nice journal, do you want to consider it? If so, on what basis? Mrs. Julie Riegler died at 4:45 Monday morning. The association certainly lost a good friend, and I am just wondering who would be available to fill her place. Everything is coming along fine for the Texas convention in the Davis Mountains. We are going to try to/§^ery Senator and Represented; ive that is now holding office and every candidate for office in the Legislature to attend this convention. If we can get half of them there we will have no trouble in putting over our proposition when the Legislature meets. With reference to your Washington trip. Don't want you to feel for a minute that I am trying to dictate to you what you should do over there, but like yourself I have had several years experience in handling these problems, and by way of suggestion, if you can get one or more
