Francis, driving a Chandler touring car, with a wheel sign on back stating "official car of Old Spanish Trail Association", called at this office and received a card to the Country Club from me, due to the fact that I was leaving the City that evening for an absence of several days. Mr. Francis stated to the writer that he was an employee of the Old Spanish Trail Association at San Antonio and was engaged to write up a history of the Trail, each community on the Trail from Coast to Coast, and to collect subscriptions based on magazine advertising for the purpose of maintaining the Old Spanish Trail offices and force at San Antonio. During my absence, he went to the Calcasieu Bank and succeeded in having an officer of that bank cash a check for $50.00, of which fact I was not informed until this morning, xh'eJ "check having been returned to the bank marked "no account" and having been drawn on a bank at Baker, Oregon’; ~~ Please advise this office if this man was employed by the Old Spanish Trail Association and as to his whereabouts, if known. Your very prompt reply will be appreciated. Very truly yours. HB1 HERBERT BAYLISS GENERAL MANAGER
